Armchair BEA Day 2: Fiction

I'm back for Day 2! How is everyone doing so far? Today's category is fiction. I love love love fiction! It is definitely my favorite general category. I tend to focus on a few subcategories under fiction, all of which I love many different books.

The main subcategory that I definitely consider my favorite is fantasy. All of my favorite authors are fantasy novelists, and most of my favorite books are fantasy based. One series I consistently recommend, and I'm going to recommend it again, is The Edge Chronicles series by Paul Stewart. Seriously, if you love fantasy go read these books! They are so worth it.

Another subcategory I enjoy, but don't read a lot of anymore, would be contemporary fiction. I didn't start to read contemp novels until the last few years or so, and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy them. Because I was so accustommed to reading fantasy, I didn't expect to love them so much! Sarah Dessen is well-known for her novels, and it the author I recommend most people start with when venturing into contemporary.

Do you know of any other fantasy or contemporary books I would enjoy? What fiction books do you read? Let me know below!

    1. Thanks! Lori from Pure Imagination Blog made my layout :) And yes, fantasy seems to be more popular in the blogosphere, although it surprises me how many bloggers love historical fiction so much! Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I use to be a bit anti-contemporary, but in the past year I've come to really love quite a bit of it. Even though Sarah Dessen's work isn't my absolute FAVORITE(though I do like it), I agree she's a great starting point.

    1. I used to be the same way, I didn't enjoy it at all. Once you find an author you love it's easier to continue! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. I've read the first two in the Edge Chronicles! They were a lot of fun to read and really unique. I'm just now getting into contemporary, so I don't know a lot of books in the category but one of my recent favorites is Slammed by Colleen Hoover.

    1. Yay, someone else that has read The Edge Chronicles! I highly recommend reading all of them. The three trilogies can be confusing at first, but reading them separate and then reading the final wrap-up book just makes it so great! I've never heard of Slammed, but I will definitely check it out! Thanks for the recommendation, and thanks for stopping by!

  4. I am glad you said who designed your header because I've been in the beginning stages of looking into getting a design for my blog and yours is so eye-catching.

I haven't read that series but I enjoy light fantasy so I am going to look into it further!

  5. I've been reading a lot of fantasy lately too - although I read different genres in spurts ... seem mysteries are about to make a comeback!
